The Weeknd and Nespresso have teamed up to create a coffee collection rooted in inspiring creativity, connecting through ritual and celebrating everyday magic.
The collaboration intends to blend the expertise of the Swiss food and beverage company and The Weeknd’s Ethiopian-inspired Samra Origins. Abel “The Weend” Tesfaye partnered with Blue Bottle Coffee in 2023 to create Samra Origins, a coffee product line named after his Ethiopian-born mother. Ethiopia is considered the birthplace of coffee.
“Growing up, I watched my mother perform Buna Tetu, a traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony,” Tesfaye said when he started Samra Origins. “This sensory experience helped shape my understanding of community and taught me to always honor my roots.”
Similarly, Nespresso’s press release said the company recognizes that coffee is more than a morning routine. It’s a vibe that connects family and friends. The partnership showcases how coffee can generate creativity and fuel art and music.
The products offer a second connection between the artist and the food and beverage company. Nespresso is the headline sponsor for The Weeknd’s world tour.
“Partnering with Abel and Samra Origins reflects our shared belief that coffee and music bring people together and spark creativity. Just as music brings together a vibrant mix of genres, Nespresso offers a refined selection of coffees and roasts, ensuring there is something exceptional for every taste,” Nespresso CEO Philipp Navratil said via a press statement. “It is yet another example of a partnership that blends our high-quality coffee with art and culture. We can’t wait to welcome Abel and his fans on this journey and create unforgettable memories together.”
The initial launch features a limited-edition tumbler, and more partnership product launches will be available later this year.
