In July, the month that normally features the most popular U.S. beef grilling day, Cheez-It and Wendy’s will bring the burger chain’s Baconator to grocery store aisles. In a box. In a cracker.
The brands describe the Baconator-flavored crisp as the “ultimate craveable fix,” in their collaboration announcement.
“Cheez-It fans are known for their passionate love of our signature cheesy flavor, baked with 100% real cheese – and we’re always looking for new ways to surprise them with bold, flavor-packed experiences,” said Cara Tragseiler, senior brand director for Cheez-It. “With Wendy’s, we found the perfect partner to create something completely unexpected.”
The companies promise layers of Baconator flavor without heading to the drive-thru or restaurant counter. The press release specifically mentions applewood smoked bacon flavor that’s both “amplified” and “savory.”
Notably absent is any mention of notes of mayo or a bouquet of ketchup – condiments that accompany the six slices of bacon and two beef patties.
Lindsay Radkoski’s quote from the release suggests there’s the taste of beef.
“We took our famous Baconator – a burger known for its irresistible, beefy, bacon-loaded flavor – and reimagined it with the unmistakable cheesy crunch of Cheez-It, said Radkoski, U.S. chief marketing officer for The Wendy’s Company. “The result is a one-of-a-kind bite that gives fans a fresh, new way to enjoy their Wendy’s favorite anytime, anywhere.”
The limited-time snack arrives in stores in a few weeks. But eager burger lovers can get it now at CheezIt.com. The site also offers a bundle that includes the bacony crackers and a Wendy’s Frosty keychain tag. Use the code CHEESZBURGER for free shipping.
According to the press release, there’s a QR code on the back of the box that provides a $2 discount off a Baconator when purchased via the app along with another item.
